Tourism's rapid growth provides many opportunities for the development of China's nature reserves. Simultaneously, environmental quality and biodiversity in these areas may suffer irreversible losses where
unmanaged tourism uses the name of ecotourism. High-level decision-makers and reserve managers are facing new challenges. This paper addresses the fundamental implications of ecotourism, highlights opportunities
and challenges, and identifies effective management measures and suggestions for developing ecotourism in China's nature reserves.
