This report considers the use of heritage resources in rural regeneration. It is based on the Heritage Regions programme, developed by Heritage Canada, a national nonprofit organisation, which encourages
Canadians to identify, protect, and enhance their cultural, built, and natural environments. The Heritage Regions process involves four components: cooperation, education, conservation and entrepreneurship.
Tourism is an integral part of all four components. The report was written by a practitioner closely involved in the development and implementation of the programme.
