This paper was prepared for a gathering made up of representatives of different church organisations at a Roundtable organised by Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth, Nigeria. My task therefore
was made a little lighter as I trod familiar terrain with co-pilgrims. There has been a serious dearth of information in the church in this part of the world as far as environmental issues are concerned.
I would not be surprised if some of my original audience were learning for the first time about this issue.
