Some time ago, Dr Papadimitriou drew the attention of the Editors to various comments from native English-speaking reviewers about papers submitted from south-eastern Europe that fell below what he regarded
as acceptable levels of cultural sensitivity. As a result, we invited Dr Papadimitriou to explain his concerns more fully in this Guest Editorial.
